Encore Families,

It was great to see so many previous and new swimmers during our first day of practice! It was a fun start to the season, and we look forward to seeing more of you as schedules permit. Here are a few reminders and answers to questions we received yesterday in case you were having similar thoughts:

• Volunteering Info Meeting Today: We had quite an imbalance in preferences across our volunteer positions that we’ll need to balance out and assign in the next two weeks. We will have a parent meeting today at 5:30pm and 6:30pm just outside the pool deck to go through each volunteer position, allow you to ask questions, and provide you the opportunity to give additional input on what positions may be good fits for you. Parents in our 7-8pm hour can ask Michelle any questions. Please plan to join us if you are able to!

• What Swim Gear do I need? You can purchase a swim suit from SwimOutlet.com→teams→Encore Swim Team (Encore Dolphins with our Logo will show). Pls see below for an extended answer.

• Still need to tryout? If you missed tryouts and didn’t come Monday, please come to our table and mention that your child still needs to tryout. We’ll have you fill out a short form and bring them to a coach for a quick tryout prior to them joining the groups in the pool.

• Trying to Balance schedules? If you have overlapping commitments during your child’s scheduled swim practice time, please email info@encoreswimteam.com, or find us on the pool deck so we can discuss potential adjustments based on your family needs and your swimmer’s ability.

• Final call for payment: If you have not yet sent in your registration checks and volunteer deposits, please do so ASAP. We will be collecting them on the pool deck across this week. Your swimmer will not be able to practice next week if we have not received both the registration fee AND the volunteer commitment check.

We’ll be at the white table for every practice - come say hello and sign in your swimmer daily with us (or have them do so). Thank you!

REQUIRED GEAR

Team Swim Suits - Every swimmer must have a team suit to wear for swim meets. Note: We heard that some sizes are sold out in the youth sections - please check the adult suits option and navigate to the smaller sizes (we aren’t sure why, but SwimOutlet shared that these ones are in stock). We will have a few sizes available during the first 2 weeks of practice if you would like to have your swimmer check their size prior to purchase.

Swim Caps - Girls and boys with long hair are encouraged to wear swim caps during practice. You can purchase Encore Caps from SwimOutlet, and we have a few for sale on the pool deck for $10 cash. All swimmers must wear red swim caps for Swim Meets.

Practice Equipment - All swimmers will need a kickboard for practice and we have Encore kickboards to use during practice, though you are welcome to purchase one as well. Hand paddles (example) and, more often used at older ages, pull buoys, will also be used. Our coaches will let us know at what ages you’ll need these. These all can be purchased on the SwimOutlet website.
